The UMPSA Executive Board has recently taken a unified and critical stance on the proposed Higher Education Compact. We voted unanimously to join the hourly staff, faculty, and graduate workers’ unions in signing a letter asking the Chancellor and Campus Presidents to reject the Compact. This collective action was taken due to serious concerns that the proposed Compact would threaten institutional autonomy, restrict academic freedom, and ultimately undermine our core mission of academic excellence.
